I know most of you are already praying for Tricia Lawrenson. If not, please read her story and update here, and keep her in your prayers!

Fibromyalgia?

My rheumotologist hinted that I might have this when I went to see him last year. He ran tests, found nothing, so I started going to an acupuncturist. The pain eventually went away, so I cancelled my next appointment with my rheumotologist.

The pain came back about 2 months ago. I had an appointment to go see him a few weeks ago, but had to cancel. I called for another appointment and can't get in to see him until November. Over the past several weeks, the pain has become almost debilitating at times... somewhat worse than it was last year.

So.. being the nurse that I am (which I have found to be more dangerous at times than helpful.. LOL), I began doing my own research to see if in fact it could be fibromyalgia. I assumed that fibromyalgia could only be determined by ruling everything else out, but I also found that I pretty much have classic symptoms according to what I've read.

According to Wikipedia, here are some of the symptoms... and I seem to have all of them:

1. Pain.. of course

2. Many tender points or Tactile Allodynia

3. Irritable bowel syndrome (I was diagnosed with this almost 2 years ago)

4. Sleep disturbances

I am going to try to get an appointment with a rheumotologist in Charlotte (the other one was at Duke). I am hoping to get in sooner than November.

I would love to hear from anyone who has fibromyalgia or knows anything about it. I have read about "possible" treatments, but none of them seem that promising.

House's new house

This is a picture of Hugh Laurie's new Hollywood home that he bought for $4 million. He will finally be able to move his family over from England. (Just a little tidbit of information I came across while surfing the net tonight and while my hubby was cooking me dinner). I know you will only be interested if you are a Hugh Laurie fan. :)

Latest

I usually give my health updates on my Caringbridge site, but since I haven't updated either site for awhile, I thought I would start here.

It's been a tough week. I am starting to feel the affects of kidney failure a lot more than I have in the past. There are days where I don't even leave the house, and when I do, I can't do a lot. My joints continue to hurt and I have muscle aches. I am not sure the cause of these.. neither are my docs.

I've been very nauseous the past week and have lost more weight, which is not good. My docs want me a certain weight before transplant, and I'm heading in the wrong direction. Please pray that my appetite increases and that I'll gain some much needed weight in the coming months.

My mom's testing is almost done. She goes back to Duke on the 17th for her final few tests to make sure she is healthy enough to give me a kidney. So far, all of the testing has come back fine.

Jason and Casey are keeping busy despite my inability to do much. The cooler temperatures and the recent rain has been great!! We are supposed to go to Carowinds next Monday, but I just saw where it's supposed to be back in the 90's by then, so I'm not sure I'll make it.

That's all for now. I'll post more later!
