The perfect coverage

Things really start going downhill when you turn 35. I have always had perfect skin until about 2 years ago. This past year, I have actually developed something called melasma that's either related to sun exposure or hormones, or both. I am using something that my dermatologist gave me to get rid of it, but it's taking time. I am considering laser treatment to get rid of it, but in the meantime, I wanted to find a make-up that did a good job of covering it... Well.. I found it...

It's called Sheercover and it is AMAZING! I have seen it advertised on TV for years, but never know whether I can believe those infomercials or not. I was at the mall tonight with a friend who was looking at Proactive, and they also sold Sheercover. I tried it out on my hand, and bought a starter kit. When I got home, I put it on my face, and my face looks like I'm 20 years old again. It actually looks porcelain!

If you have rosacea, melasma, or just a few imperfections, you should give this a try. I think you will love it as much as I do!

UPDATE:  I was at Carowinds the other day, and we were all taking a break from the rides, when we saw someone guessing your age or weight for $5. So my daughter and her friend urged me to go up to them and have them guess my age. I reluctantly went up to the girl and gave her $5 to guess my age (they have to get within 2 years or you win a cheesy stuffed animal). Well, she guessed 26 years old. :) My daughter got a cute monkey because of it!! I'm not sure if this was the Sheercover talking, the girl's cluelessness, or the CF (most of us look younger than we really are), but I thought I'd add this to the Sheercover blog  just in case that might be why I looked 11 years younger to her than I really am. It made my day... whatever the reason.

Cystic Fibrosis

A great video about Cystic Fibrosis...

(you will have to stop my playlist below, so you can hear the video)

Unaccompanied Minor

Because Casey's dad works for USAirways, Casey gets to fly free. It's a nice perk, but after flying standby for many years, I came to realize that with that perk can be a lot of aggravation. Casey flew to see her grandparents in Florida yesterday. We tried to get her on the 1:00 flight, but it was oversold... so were the 4:00 and 6:00, so we went back to the airport for the 8:00 flight last night. She FINALLY made it.

It wasn't her first time flying by herself, but it always makes me nervous. They are very careful with the kids and they escort them on and off the plane and you have to sign paperwork when you pick up and drop off a child, so I know they are safe, but I still worry. She was not nervous at all, which did make it easier for me. Kids are so tough!

Anyway, she is now going to be staying a few extra days because her cousins are coming down there from Pennsylvania. She is so excited. She is pretty homesick.. she just texted me for about an hour.. LOL, but that's because it's bedtime. Tomorrow, when she's busy again, she'll be fine.

Christian Women

CHRISTIAN WOMEN
by Maya Angelou

'A woman's heart should be so hidden in Christ
that a man should have to seek Him first to find her.'
When I say... 'I am a Christian' I'm not shouting 'I'm clean livin''
I'm whispering 'I was lost, Now I'm found and forgiven.'
When I say... 'I am a Christian' I don't speak of this with pride.
I'm confessing that I stumble and need Christ to be my guide.
When I say... 'I am a Christian' I'm not trying to be strong.
I'm professing that I'm weak and need His strength to carry on.
When I say... 'I am a Christian' I'm not bragging of success.
I'm admitting I have failed and need God to clean my mess.
When I say... 'I am a Christian' I'm not claiming to be perfect,
My flaws are far too visible but, God believes I am worth it.
When I say... 'I am a Christian' I still feel the sting of pain..
I have my share of heartaches, so I call upon His name.
When I say... 'I am a Christian' I'm not holier than thou,
I'm just a simple sinner Who received God's good grace, somehow!
Pretty is as Pretty does.... but beautiful is just plain beautiful!

Our beach plans

Trying to find a place to vacation at with our entire family can be a bit difficult. My favorite beach to go to is Nags Head beach on the OBX, but my mom doesn't like going there. My sister's in-laws have a house in Manteo, so they always go there around the 4th of July. They would rather go somewhere else for our family vacation in August, so...

I went on a search for a vacation spot. I am not fond of Myrtle Beach because it is way too commercialized, but North Myrtle isn't so bad, and because there are so many places to choose from, the prices are usually more reasonable there than anywhere else around. Because of health issues, I need a fairly new place when I go to the beach. Older condos and houses tend to have a lot of mold due to the fact that.. well.. it's on the water.

After many hours of searching, I finally found us a place at the Bahama Sands Resort in North Myrtle. These condos were just built in January of this year, so they should have no mold problem and will be very clean. There is a lazy river and 3 pools, not including the kiddie pool for my little nephew Cole.

After I have my kidney transplant and have fully recovered, we are planning on either taking a cruise to the Caribbean or going to an all-inclusive place in the Caribbean. I am hoping to get my entire family to go with us. There is nothing like Caribbean water, but I want to be very healthy when I go so that I can fully enjoy it.

Here is a pic of the place we are staying at in August...

Too hot to go outside and exercise?

I am always searching for that "perfect" workout video. I have been through so many, I cannot even count them. I just ordered another, and I'm hoping it will have the results I want, and give me the motivation I need to continue exercising. It has gotten excellent reviews from what I've read. Click here to purchase. I am hearing that people are seeing results as early as 2 weeks after starting this video. I'll write a review as soon as I get it and start working out to it... that is if I can walk to the computer. :)

This and That

The song Breakaway by Kelly Clarkson that's on my playlist is also on our American Idol ps2 game. Casey sings it beautifully, but she won't let me tape her singing it. She gets the highest score possible almost every time she sings it on the game. She wants to take voice lessons next year. I just have to find someone who will take a 12 (almost 13) year old. Most places want to wait until the kids are 15.

Here's some news about Casey... she got a 95 on her end of grade testing in math. That really is an awesome score. I'm so proud of her. She had to get a 90 or above to stay in advanced math for 7th grade. She has worked really hard this year!!

More news... plans for my 20 year high school reunion have been finalized. It's August 30th. We are supposed to meet for lunch at a park with our children and then we will have an adults only party that night. It should be a lot of fun.. our 10th year reunion was, but I am not sure if I will feel up to it or not.....

I have doubled my diuretics over the past 2 weeks, and I continue to have more swelling and joint pain. I am going this week for some blood work to see how my kidneys are doing, but I have never been on this much diuretic before, and it's not helping as much as it used to. I'm so glad they started all of the testing on my mom, because I may need that transplant sooner than later. I really am ready to feel better.

More news.. Jason and I are putting our plans of selling our house and buying a new one on hold for now. We are thinking that it might be best to wait until after my kidney transplant. I want to feel my best when we are packing and moving and... buying new furniture.. :)

That's it for now I guess.. I am going to go finish the book I'm reading called Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers.. it's awesome!!
