Quick Update

I started Cipro yesterday for my sinusitis. I hope it helps. I won't know for a week or so.

I haven't heard back from any of my blood work from last week. I am assuming that's a good thing??? Surely, Duke would have let me know if something was not right.

I go to see my lung transplant pulmonologist next Thursday. It's been 3 months since I've seen him. I need a chest xray and pfts.

I see my kidney transplant nephrologist on the 21st of this month. That's the day my photography class starts too. I will probably miss it, but since it's online, I can just catch up.

I see my ENT on February 3rd.

I am keeping up with my food journaling and my exercise program, but hey.. it's only January 8th, right?

A big happy 1st birthday to Gwyneth. What a miracle you are. I wore brown today to celebrate!

Hey Christy! I do saline spray irrigation and use Flonase which seems to help my sinuses.. What do your tx docs recommend for your sinuses? Hope they're feeling better sooN!

I use saline irrigations. It helps some, but my maxillary sinuses are the ones giving me so much trouble, and those can only be irrigated out so much. I know I'm getting ready for another surgery. Thanks girl.

I wandered across your blog while browsing CF blogs, and just had to say hi - I am 20 with CF and until this year went to Duke as well. Now I am married and living in Idaho till my husband graduates, so I am currently getting my CF care in Utah... hopefully within the next few years I will be back at Duke though.

Good luck with the Cipro. I have had more and more issues with chronic sinusitis over the last few years... they seem to get impacted pretty easily, especially here in dry Idaho. I am trying to hold off on surgery right now. We'll see! I just got off IVs for my lungs, which definitely helped my sinuses as well.

How do you keep it all straight?

Yes, how do you keep all this straight.. I guess it is by your EXCELLENT organizational skills! lol
I do hope you feel better! Sinus trouble is the worst. Hubby gets it so bad, he usually always ends up with bloody noses... UGH. Poor thing.
Good luck with all your dr. visits.. I kinda like to go on the addage, that no news is good news!!

Keep It Up!!!
My thoughts and prayers are with you!!!

Thanks Christy! Actually I switched to Nioxin a couple weeks ago while I was in MT cuz my mom had some and thought I should just try it... AND it smells minty also!.. Bonus! Have you tried Nioxin?

Christy said...

No I haven't tried Nioxin, but I just read about it on Amazon. I see it's for fine hair.. something I have had since starting all of these medications. Maybe I'll give it a try.. thanks so much!
The thing I like about pureology is that it makes my frizzy hair so smooth.. even if I don't use other products in it. I have never had a shampoo and conditioner make so much difference.
But I am always willing to try new stuff!

Yeah, my mom tried Nioxin months ago, b/c as she's gotten older, her hair has thinned... She thought it helped her hair and knew I felt mine was thinner from the Prograf, so she suggested it... and so far, so good!! It also leaves my hair smooth like the Pureology.. Apparently it was originally created for cancer patients with thinning hair or hair loss... I saw that Ulta (do you have one of those stores near you?) is having a special on Nioxin products, buy two get two free.. which is a SCREAMING deal considering they ain't cheap! Let me know how you like it if you try it?!

How is the cipro treatin' ya? I am having a hard time with it right now. I am trying to flush my sinuses as much as possible!

Christy said...

I'll definitely be heading to Ulta tomorrow... yes, we have one in town.

Cipro is treating me ok... gives me intestinal disturbances.. you know what I mean. :)

Thanks for all the sweet comments guys.

You are a beautiful woman!!

Seeing you gives me hope for my son with CF...Rickie wasn't diagnosed with Cf until he was 6 that being said, he's been hospitalized almost monthly for a year and prior to that very frequently...they never put two and two together and tested him!

I hope and pray you'll have a great appointment coming up!

Thanks for stopping by!

My sinuses have been acting up over the last week, I hope it isn't anything but the house being to dry. Hope you feel better soon!

Do you have a humidifier? I've been thinking of getting one.

Thanks for the info, I think John may purchase one without a filter? He said those are better, I am still concerned. He said he would change the water daily and keep up on it.

That's the only way I will have it in this house because I have severe allergies to mold, and I can't risk getting another fungus. No way!

love you!

From experience, it's definitely a good thing when you don't hear back from the lab *winks* but it's always nice to hear the results! I wish you luck on your upcoming month and let me know how the photography class goes, perhaps you could even share a few pictures! Speaking of which, I love your new pictures on your right hand column. You have a beeeautiful family :)
